Du 19 au 26 juillet 2008, dans les Arènes et Jardins de Cimiez à Nice, se déroule, comme chaque année, le Nice Jazz Festival.

Ce cadre enchanteur des champs d’oliviers et des arènes gallo-romaines de Cimiez permet à chacun de flâner d’un concert à l’autre, d'une scène à l'autre et de choisir parmi les trois scènes son spectacle.

Ces concerts en plein air invitent les spectateurs àun moment convivial.

Cette année la ville de Nice fête ses 60 ans de tradition du jazz. L’édition 2008 affiche un retour au Jazz dans toute sa diversité.

Ce serait en effet à Nice sur le stade Charles Ehrmann (Nikaia) que Madonna devrait donner le tout premier concert de son "Hard Candy Tour" qu'elle répète actuellement en Grande-Bretagne.

Après U2, Les Rolling Stones ou Céline Dion en Juillet 2008, Madonna sera à Nice le 26 Août 2008.
Elle tentera de battre son propre record de vente à Nice de 54 000 entrées lors du "Who's that Girl show" de l'été 1987.

La conférence de presse du 61^e Festival de Cannes, durant laquelle ont été annoncés les Jurys et la Sélection officielle, s'est tenue mercredi 23 avril 2008.

Le prestigieux Festival de Cannes se tiendra du 14 au 25 mai. Pour cette 61^e édition, c’est Sean Penn qui aura la lourde tâche de présider le jury et remettra notamment la Palme d’or.

Les très nombreux participants ont envahi la Promenade des Anglais ce dimanche 20 avril 2008.

Le vainqueur 2008 est NDISO Dennis (Kenya) qui à parcouru les 21,1km en 1h54s, soit une moyenne de 20,78818 km/h.

L'hôtel West-end félicite tous les coureurs et particulièrement le vainqueur pour cette belle épreuve.

Après Nice, Monaco, Cannes, le 2e Antibes Yacht Show se tiendra ce week-end.

Le grand ténor français Roberto ALAGNA a choisi le lyrisme de Cyrano de Bergerac pour 3 dates à l'Opéra de Monaco.

Créé en 1935, l'opéra de Franco Alfano, est resté pendant longtemps oublié. Cette adaptation lyrique du célèbre texte d'Edmond de Rostand sur un livret simplifié et élagué par Henri Cain (disparition de la célèbre tirade du nez) a gardé la force du texte original.
Cette production de la scène prestigieuse de Montpellier, portée par une interprétation de Roberto Alagna, est magnifiée ici par une mise en scène et une troupe des plus attrayantes avec notamment Nathalie Manfrino en Roxane séductrice.
Une oeuvre à découvrir donc.

JEAN NOUVEL : PRIX PRITZKER 2008

Le 30 mars 2008, Jean Nouvel, l'un des plus grand architecte français a obtenu le Prix Pritzker, la plus importante récompense en matière d'architecture dans le monde, considéré comme l’équivalent d’un Prix Nobel. En devenant le 32e lauréat, il côtoiera Frank Gehry, Renzo Piano, Christian de Portzamparc, Richard Rogers, Sir Norman Foster, Jacques Herzog et Pierre De Meuron.

La relation entre Jean Nouvel et Nice est étroite. L'architecte s'est vu confié gracieusement pour une durée 50 ans, la Batterie du Mont Boron, ancien camp militaire et fort bâti en 1884, acquis récemment par la ville.
Le créateur de l'Institut du monde arabe ou du nouveau Musée du quai Branly à Paris souhaite transformer ce lieu "inspirant" constitué de voûtes souterraines noyées sous une végétation odorante en centre de recherche et de travail pour son équipe qui compte près de 150 personnes.
Ce centre sera a la fois un lieu de rencontres entre architectes et un laboratoire créatif ayant pour mission : la transformation de la batterie du fort du Mont Boron en lieu d’accueil, de travail et de recherche, le développement de la culture architecturale en termes de diffusion, d’édition, de rencontres et d’échanges, la formation de jeunes professionnels venus du monde entier, le développement et le soutien à la recherche architecturale.

L'Hôtel West-End se joint aux niçois pour féliciter Jean Nouvel pour sa participation au rayonnement de "Nissa la Bella".

Depuis le début du XXe siècle, la Côté d’Azur aime le jazz et le prouve encore chaque année.

Deux des plus importants Festival de Jazz s’y déroulent chaque été au mois de Juillet dans des cadres idylliques.

Du 11 au 20 juillet 2008 ; le 48^e festival international JAZZ A JUAN dans la pinède Gould avec en mur de scène l’ouverture symbolique sur la Méditerranée.

Si Juan les pins accueille, en 1960, son premier Festival, l’histoire d’amour avec le jazz a débuté en 1923 avec l’arrivée au Cap D’antibes de Geral Murphy et son épouse venus des Etats-Unis. Passionné de musique afro-américaine, il sera à l’origine de l’engouement de la ville pour cette musique.

Depuis sa création, de nombreuses personnalités s’y sont produites comme : Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington ou plus récemment : Dee Dee Bridgewater, Diana Krall.

La programmetion 2008 ne sera dévoilée que dans le courant du mois d’avril.

L’oeillet est la fleur emblématique de la Côte d’Azur, depuis plus de cent ans il véhicule l’image de marque de la région dans le monde entier.

Il existe un véritable culte de l’oeillet et sa culture est tout un art, car il y a autant d’oeillets dans la nature qu’il existe de couleurs sur la palette d’un peintre.

L’oeillet de Nice, dianthus caryophyllus (Dianthus, la fleur des dieux), emblème de la Ville, est exporté dans le monde entier, acheté à brassées, adulé !

L’association à un autre culte de la région ; Giuseppe Garibaldi était donc une évidence.

Ainsi Ferrante Lanari, l’alchimiste de l’œillet, qui œuvre à Cagnes-sur-Mer a créé l’oeillet Jóusé Garibaldi.

La naissance de cette fleur s’est inscrite dans les manifestations qui ont marqué, en 2007, le bicentenaire de la naissance à Nice, le 4 juillet 1807, du “Héros des Deux Mondes”. La création de ce nouvel oeillet de Nice, emblème de la ville, qui portera le nom en langue niçoise du plus célèbre des Niçois : Jóusé Garibaldi.

Les 5, 6 et 7 avril 2008 le charmant village de Falicon, tout près de Nice, organise la Fête de l’œillet, animée par divers spectacles de rues qui seront pour l’occasion entièrement décorées et fleuries par des brassées d’Œillets de Nice.

Le concert de Michel Fugain samedi 22 mars 2008 a fait un triomphe. Mélant avec harmonie les nouvelles chansons et les anciennes l'artiste a conquis le coeur des niçois venu en nombre l'applaudir.

L'histoire de Michel Fugain est étroitement liée à la ville de Nice, puisqu c'est aux studios de la Victorine, où furent tournés de nombreux films dont la "Nuit Américaine" de François Truffaut, qu'il créa en 1979 son Atelier; l'« Atelier Michel Fugain », une école de music-hall qui durera trois ans. Il demontrera ainsi, outre des talents de compositeur-interprète showman, un désir de transmettre son savoir à de jeunes artistes motivés.

Aujourd'hui encore, Michel Fugain reste l'une des références dans la chanson française mélant avec bonheur tendresse, fête et volupté.

Lors d'une rencontre à "06 en SCENE" autour de la chanson française, il abordera ce soir à 20h30 salle Hermes, le métier d'auteur / compositeur aujourd'hui, les techniques d'écriture, les formations professionnelles, son parcours personnel, son expérience de l'Atelier de Nice, l'avenir pour les jeunes artistes débutants aujourd'hui...
